Dental Fillings

Tooth-Colored Fillings at Pearsall Family Dental:

A dental filling is one of the most standard and routine procedures in dentistry.  If a tooth needs a dental filling, it means that the tooth has a cavity.  A cavity is an area of the tooth which has begun to decay.  Your doctor will remove all of the decay and bacteria from the tooth and restore the tooth with a tooth-colored filling.

There are rare situations when conditions will strongly favor the placement of a traditional silver filling.  If this is the case, the doctor will review with you before placing any silver fillings.

Dental Cleanings

A dental cleaning is the primary preventative service provided by the dentist.  Routine dental cleanings serve to keep your teeth clean and your gums healthy.   Our team takes care to be gentle during your cleanings.  If you have not had a dental cleaning in a long time, your gums may be sensitive.  If this is the case, we offer complimentary anesthetic gel for your comfort.

Our cleanings consist of removing all plaque and tartar buildup in hard-to-reach places, as well as a final polish.  Our hygienist uses a gentle Ultrasonic Cleaner to make your cleanings more thorough and efficient.

Please keep in mind that a dental cleaning by definition of the American Dental Association is classified as a PREVENTATIVE treatment.  If areas of your mouth have Active Disease, we may need to stabilize those conditions before a cleaning. This can be reviewed with the doctor.

Dental Services for Children in Pearsall, Texas

Kids with healthy teeth grow up to be adults with healthy teeth.  Your kids should start visiting a dentist as soon as their first tooth has erupted.  Early dental visits also allow your child to develop a good relationship with their dentist.  Many people grow up and are afraid of the dentist.  If your child gets used to coming to the dentist at a young age and has positive experiences — they will likely never develop this common phobia.

The best treatment for your child is prevention. At Pearsall Family Dental by providing regular cleaningsfluoride treatment, and sealants, we can decrease the chances that your child ever develops dental cavities.

Teenagers are one of the most at-risk groups to develop cavities.  Many teenage diets include sweets, sports drinks, and other various snacks.  Hormonal changes a teenager experiences may also change the natural bacteria in the mouth, resulting in cavities.  Make sure your teenager is having routine dental exams.

Custom Mouth Guards

If your teenager plays contact sports, research has shown that a custom-made professional Sports Mouthguard by a dentist significantly decreases the chance of both concussions and tooth damage in athletes compared to no mouthguard or an over-the-counter mouthguard.

Tooth Extractions

Tooth pain can be one of the worst pains that a patient may experience.  Our doctor is comfortable performing most routine surgical procedures in office.  This includes pulling painful, broken teeth that cannot be saved.

To minimize or eliminate any pain, your dental extraction procedure will be performed under local anesthesia. This procedure can make some patients nervous – but do not worry.  It is very routine. Our team will move at your pace, and make you as comfortable and stress-free as possible the whole time.

Root Canal Treatment in Our Pearsall Dental Office

Root Canal Therapy is necessary when a tooth has sustained damage to the nerve area.  It is also necessary if there is an infection inside the root of the tooth.

Root Canals are very different than they were in the old days, and typically pain free procedures.

Modern Root Canals are virtually painless procedures.

Tooth Bleaching in Pearsall, Texas

Everyone loves a bright smile.  There are many options to whiten your teeth.  A good place to start is the Over-The-Counter tooth whitening systems that are sold in the toothpaste aisle of stores (Such as Crest White Strips).  You may also wish to try Whitening Toothpastes.

For faster results, our office provides Professional-Grade tooth whitening products which you may purchase.  Our professional strength tooth whitening trays are stronger and faster acting than over-the-counter options. Many patients experience a half-shade to a full-shade whiter teeth after a single usage.

Dental Crowns and Tooth Bridges

A dental crown, also sometimes called a ‘cap,’ is used to restore and protect a tooth that has been severely worn down, damaged, or cracked.  A crown protects a weakened tooth from future catastrophic damage.  If a crown is needed, but not done, this may increase the risk to eventually lose that tooth in the future.

Signs you may need a crown:

You notice crack lines in your tooth. Your tooth is completely or partially broken. Your tooth has a very large filling that has started to break down. You have had a recent Root Canal Therapy performed on a tooth.

White Pine Dental Health offers both classic Gold Crowns as well as modern Tooth Colored Porcelain Crowns.  Your crown is a long-term solution, for long-term dental stability and health.

Tooth Bridges:

A dental bridge is the classic solution to replace a single missing tooth.  A bridge will use the support of neighboring teeth to hold a new tooth to fill the missing space.

Gum Disease Treatment

Non-Surgical Gum (Periodontal) Therapy in Pearsall, Texas

Periodontal Disease is a form of gum disease that, if left untreated, causes the loosening and eventual loss of teeth.  Periodontal Disease is the result of a gum infection in which bacteria become trapped underneath your gums.  These bacteria damage and destroy the bone which holds in your teeth.

SIGNS YOU MAY HAVE PERIODONTAL DISEASE:

  • It hurts when you floss
  • It hurts when you brush
  • Your gums bleed when you brush or floss
  • You notice your gums are very red
  • You notice your gums are puffy and sensitive.

Non-Surgical Gum Therapy is the first-line of defense to treat Periodontal Disease.  This is a painless procedure in which the doctor will remove the calcified bacteria deposits which are growing beneath your gums.  Once these calcified deposits are removed, your gums can begin to heal.

Sedation Dentistry

Dental Fear: We’re Here To Help You

Sedation Dentistry is more commonly referred to as Sleep Dentistry. If your fear of the dentist is stopping you from having a brilliant smile, visit us at Pearsall Family Dental, and you will not be afraid anymore! And that is a promise!

At Pearsall Family Dental, we understand that anxiety keeps many people from receiving the life-changing dental care that they need.

If dental fear stands as an obstacle between you and a healthy smile, we have options for you that make dental care easier than you ever imagined. Three types of anxiety control allow even the most fearful patients to experience the most excellent dentistry.

The 3 Types of Dental Sedation

  1. ORAL SEDATION : Oral sedation works well for mild anxiety or shorter appointments:

Before your treatment, you take a small pill. Our sedative medication is FDA approved with a long history of safety. You stay awake and responsive during treatment in a comfortable, relaxed state.  You’ll remember very little about your visit.

  1. NITROUS OXIDE

Known as “laughing gas,” this sedative reduces anxiety and helps you ease through treatment: Before your treatment, you breathe in odorless gas mixed with oxygen through a nose mask. Nitrous Oxide can be adjusted up or down during treatment

You’ll leave feeling normal, and can even drive a car after your appointment.

  1. IV SEDATION

Many patients benefit from IV sedation: Calming medications flow through an IV before starting any treatment.

At Pearsall Family Dental, IV sedation is administered by a board-certified anesthesiologist at your side, just like any other surgical procedure.

During IV sedation, you’ll be responsive to us, but unaware of the treatment being performed. You will not feel or remember anything. Before you know it, your appointment is over.

At Pearsall Family Dental, our dentists specialize in providing a worry-free dental experience. We find the sedation option that works just right for you, and try our best to propose a treatment plan that best fits your needs and requirements. Call us to schedule a time to discuss your concerns and start your journey to better health with us today!
